What’s up with phpScheduleIt 2.4?

It’s been nearly 5 months since the 2.3 release of phpScheduleIt and I’m sure some are wondering what’s going on. Well, a lot of time has been spent working with BrickHost in setting up a cloud-based hosting solution for phpScheduleIt. This will be a turn-key solution with full support for a great price.

But development towards a 2.4 release is in progress! The main focus of 2.4 is a comprehensive public API. This will allow developers to easily integrate with phpScheduleIt and paves the way for mobile versions of the application. In addition, here are the other features that will be part of 2.4

GUI based configuration editor. No more need to open up the config file for basic changes.

Daily layouts. Full support for different schedule layouts for each day of the week.

WordPress authentication plugin. Single sign-on between phpScheduleIt and WordPress.

I’m also planning to include reservation reminder emails and ReCAPTCHA support. With a little luck and a lot of free time, we should be shipping 2.4 soon.

Stay tuned!

    Hi Nick,
I’m a yoga entrepreneur. I’m looking for an alternative to my current booking system for yoga classes. Do you think phpscheduleIt could be It, maybe with some tweaking? Do you know of someone using it for that or similar ends?

I know that folks have set up phpScheduleIt for fitness classes, tennis instruction, hair styling, etc. I’m biased, but I see no reason why this wouldn’t be a good fit. If you haven’t already, give the demo a spin at http://demo2.php.brickhost.com

    Hi Nick,
very good job with this tool!!

do you think is possible to have an “Joomla! authentication plugin” with SOS like the WordPress one?

I’ll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

        i made joomla authentication plugin
        $conf[‘settings’][‘plugins’][‘Authentication’] = ‘Joomla’;
when i login with joomla credentials they are properly synchronized with phpScheduleIt and i actually see the user synchronized in database
however the user is not logged in
i mean when i click login button after entering username/password it always redirects me to login dialog again and again

can you suggest me why this happens?
        thank you

Interesting project, just let me know if there is a module where you can specify the actual assistance to a resource and the difference between these examples:

Classroom total capacity 20 people, but was attended by 15.

    Thank you very much.

I’m looking at this to use for our village hall booking system, a registered charity in the UK. I will be very interested in WP integration. I was planning to use WP as the base of the site and use wp-aec calender system to make a ‘What’s on’ for the village. Using this calender each group within the village would have their own ‘home’ page as well as their own ‘calender page’. These calenders (delineated via filters) would just show that groups’ activities on THEIR calendar page and then the individual calendars are then brought together for an ‘all village’ calendar page and also for a ‘What’s on’ named widget bring this together on the front page. Well after a lot of time struggling I’ve got this to work. :=_

    My Questions/requests are:

    1) That you could point me in the right direction as to what is needed to do a partial integration of your (very good) booking system with the wp-aec calendar. so that ‘events’ when booked on your system can have say a radio button to export to the wp-aec calendar rather than having to enter the data in twice when the ‘even’ is public (not for instance a children’s birthday party).

    2) How could I make this work with a (any?) billing/invoice system.
We have 5 rooms with ‘accessories’ common to a few (a projector) and unique to a few (wedding drapes for the Hall for example) so it looks like your booking system works great for us here. Rooms are each at different charging rates but then this can alter by ‘customer’. Some ‘customers’ (the pre-school for example) have a reduced charge rate and block in one room at working times for half the year, Weddings go at a different rate as do public or private meetings for various village groups.

I am the one eyed man here in the village of the blind when it comes to IT and making this all happen. At 50 I am also younger than the average committee member here by some 20 years. I have some basic web skills but none in PHP.

Any suggestions you can make would be gratefully appreciated.

I’m trying to extend phpscheduleit via a post reservation plugin and wanted to get some help regarding accessing the series information. There was a similar post in November on the forums http://php.brickhost.com/forums/index.php?topic=11208.0 and mattmezza had the exact same question but there was no follow up answer. Unfortunately, your forum registration is broken and it won’t allow me create a new account so I can post there, and I can’t find any other contact information for you. Can you please email me back with a little direction/assistance? Thank you,

Nick – Quick Question – Is there a database upgrade involved in going from 2.3.x to 2.4.x? I’m specifically upgrading in an efforts to address:

    – Blank Resource Calendar
    – See upcoming reservations further into the future

Do I need to upgrade to 2.4.x to see these features? Are they in 2.4.x?

    1. nkorbel April 5, 2013 at 10:12 am

There will be a database upgrade with every 2.x to 2.y upgrade. “Blank Resource Calendar” – you mean you’re missing reservations? “See upcoming reservations further into the future” – on the dashboard?
